It Begins in Swindon

fishingboatproceeds:

Hank and I will be visiting the UK and Ireland this February, beginning (where else) in Swindon Town. Then London, Dublin, and Glasgow.

We’ll also be visiting Nottinham, Manchester, or Birmingham. Which? Your votes decide.

Sadly no Belgium or the Netherlands but this may still pertain to your interests~

OH GOD, I knew Lieven Scheire was a nerdfighter, I just knew it!!

All the talk about tardigrades and anglerfishes in his talk show, made some nerdfighters think Lieven Scheire might be a nerdfighter, and this tweet may just prove it. In the video he calls upon everyone to make videos this Saturday at midnight, to shatter your own record. Because at midnight, we will have a leap second. (link!)

The Hunger Games and John Green

We have a gathering-packed week coming up, starting with a first Hunger Games Gathering in Utrecht (Wednesday, 21st of March).

We are going to meet up at 6pm in Utrecht Central Station underneath the big electronic sign that displays departing trains. Then we’re going to walk to Pathé to pick up our tickets (I made a reservation for 11), then we’re going to walk to La Fontana and have pizza (I made a reservation for 10). Tomorrow (March 20th) I’m going to call them and give them the definite number of people that are going.

On March the 23rdJohn Green will be hosting an event to celebrate the release of the Dutch translation of “The Fault in Our Stars”. Location: Brug 9, Amsterdam

Fans, readers and Nerdfighters can gather to meet and greet John Green at Brug 9 (www.brug9.nl) at 20:30 PM (doors open at 20:00 PM)! There will be a bookseller as well to purchase your own copy of Een Weeffout in Onze Sterren. To slightly compensate the costs, we ask a small entrance fee of 5 euros per ticket, which you can pay at the door.

IMPORTANT: If you’re coming, please send an email to kelly@lemniscaat.nl to make sure you’re on the guest list! Limited seating!

There are also plans to go and have dinner together beforehand.

The day after, there will be a second Hunger Games Gathering. This time in Antwerp (Saturday, 24th of March).

We’ll be watching the movie at Metropolis in Antwerp. Film starts at 2:45 PM. We’ll meet up at the fancy steps under the dome of Antwerp Central at 1:45 PM. From there we will take the tram to Metropolis. May the odds ever be in your favor!

Next week there will be yet another Hunger Games Gathering in Utrecht (30th of March).

More information coming soon.

Hope to see you at one of these gatherings! DFTBA

Live in the Netherlands…

fishingboatproceeds:

So next week I will (very briefly, sadly) visit the great city of Amsterdam, which inspired so much of The Fault in Our Stars and where much of it was written.

I’ll be there to celebrate the Dutch language publication of TFiOS, or Een weeffout in onze sterren, and there will be one reading/nerdfighter gathering/evening of happy fun times at Brug 9 beginning at 8:30 PM (or 20:30, as the Dutch say) on Friday, March 23rd.

Tickets are 5 Euros (sorry to ticket it, but the place isn’t free) and space is limited. You can get on the guest list by emailing Kelly -at- lemniscaat dot nl.

Dutch/Belgian Nerdfighters, if you want to have dinner beforehand: click here for info. There is also a facebook event page about the “reading/nerdfighter gathering/evening of happy fun times” here.

I hope to see you all there!

Dunno if this is the real cover of the Dutch translation of tfios, een weeffout in onze sterren, or just a temporary thing, but it looks pretty nice :).
